On Saturday 22 August, ROAR Gym opened its doors on Henderson Road with a lion dance, a full morning of training, and a TUNDRA recovery lounge running outdoors from 07:00.

A launch party has a problem most organisers do not see coming. People arrive in waves, they train hard because everyone is watching, and then they stand around with nowhere to go. A recovery zone fixes that quietly. It gives guests a reason to sit down, a reason to talk to each other, and something worth photographing.

Cold water at 07:00
We ran an Oasis communal plunge alongside a Yukon single cold plunge, both chilled and filtered continuously through the morning so the temperature held no matter how many people got in. Outdoors, in Singapore, in August, that is not a small ask of a chiller.

Nobody stays in the cold alone for long. The communal tub does most of the talking.
The seat everyone queued for
FLUX compression boots were the station with a waiting list. Five chambers, ankle to hip, sequential compression working upward from the foot. Once someone sits down in a pair they are there for twenty minutes, which happens to be exactly the behaviour a launch party wants.

Most guests have never used sequential compression before. That is what the guide is for.
Guides, not just kit
A TUNDRA recovery guide was on site from 06:30, ahead of the 07:00 opening, and stayed through pack down. That matters more than the equipment list. Someone who has never taken a cold plunge will not get in unless a person they trust talks them through the first thirty seconds.

Recovery is part of the training
Cold exposure and compression are not a treat you earn after a hard session. They are the part of the week that lets you train again tomorrow instead of the day after. For a gym, that argument is commercially useful as well as true, because a member who recovers well trains more often.

Most people meet us at an activation like this one, so it is worth saying what else we build. Solid cold plunges for homes, gyms and hotels, designed to stay where they are put. Saunas in Finnish cedar, infrared and steam. And custom builds, where the cladding, dimensions, drainage and power are planned around your room, rooftop or gym floor rather than around a catalogue page.
If you are choosing a unit rather than booking an event, start with the ice bath buyer's guide or the home sauna buyer's guide.
Thank you
Thanks to Lawrence and the ROAR Gym team for having us, and to everyone who climbed into cold water before 08:00 on a Saturday.
